Invitations have been extended from Otaki, Palmerston N. and Feilding Clubs to Is' represented at the official openings of the respective greens on the dates shown above. Takaro Club opened its green on Saturday last, but owing to heavy rain no play was indulged in. The Mayor (Mr F. J. Nathan) in officially opening the season, remarked on the more than ordinary success that the club had attained during its short life of two years. To he free of debt was indeed a wonderful accomplishment, and great credit was due to the ladies. The membership was 125, which was very satisfactory and no doubt that in the future when tin* surrounding district was more closely populated, the membership would be considerably increased. Mr Nathan presented Mr •I. B. Morgan with the championship howling singles trophy, and announced that the club’s patron, Air A. Sutherland, had presented a trophy for the club rink championship, and also that Air R. Tanner had donated a bowl for r-umpetiiion amongst the lady croquet players. Miss Molly Nathan then cast the first bowl of\ the season. Various representatives .of the visiting clubs ex]>ressed their good wishes and congratulations to the Takaro Club. A very dainty afternoon tea was provided by tbe ladies to the visitors.
A meeting of committee will he hied.this evening at 7.30 o’clock.
