COMPENSATION FOR LOSS OF EYE.
♦ A WIDOW’S CLAIM. A flying splinter from a packing ease which was being opened early one morning in May last, was the simple cause of a serious accident which led to a compensation claim in the Ai’bitraton Court, held before Mr Justce Fraser, at Palmerston N. yesterday, when Lilly Annie Wilson, widow, of Wellington, sought recompense from Herbert Mitchell, fanner, of Bainesse, for the loss of hexleft eye which followed an accident sustained while she was in defendant’s employ. After hearing evidence, His Honour gave judgment for plaintiff for 40 per cent, of the total incapacity involved. This will amount to a sum in the vicinity of £2OO also for a sum covering the six weeks of her incapacity.
