What is tlie W.C.T.U.? The largest organisation of women in the world It numbers over a million members and is organised in 57 countries. It girdles the globe with its ribbon of white. It is organised in Japan and its president in her 88th year crossed the Pacific Ocean to present a. petition from the Japani sc women to the president of the United States, asking him to use his influence in favour of World Peace. The W.O.T.U. stands for three P’s. World Peace. World Prohibition and World Purity. Glorious ideals these and worthy the devotion of women <>f all creeds, races and colours. It has over 7.000 members in this Dominion. The local branch though only recently organised, is a vigorous shoot from the parent stem, kbit it is aiming to grow and in order to do this it wants the women of Fox!on to link up with it and increase its numbers. Jf advertises in this issue a social afternoon to he held next Friday and invites all women who are interested in social and temperance reform to meet with them. There will be musical items and afternoon tea. Also a short account will bo given of the district convention meeting at Petone today and to-morrow. Many topics of interest fn women will be dealt with Ihere and any local lady who wishes to keep abreast of women’s work and know the latest news about social reform should come to the Presbyterian hall next Friday afternoon.
