EDUCATION ACT.
. AMENDED REGULATIONS. The following amended regulations under the Education Act, 11)14, arc contained in the “Gazette.” Clause 17 is amended by revoking sub-clause (3) thereof, and substituting the following:— “(3) The ordinary grade salary of n teacher shall not be reduced owing to the fact that, he is managing or controlling the boarding establishment belonging to the school; tint: his remuneration over and above board and residence for such services in connection with the hoarding establishment shall be determined by consultation between the principal and the hoard, subject in nil eases to the approval of the Minister.” Clause IS is amended by deleting subclnnse (3), and substituting the following:— “(3) On tlie recommendation of the board, made on the advice of the principal, the Director may approve of the payment of salary in addition to that prescribed in schedule TIT. in the case of one female assistant in any mixed school.” The regulation in regard to the amount allowed to he spent oti school prizes is to have the following proviso added: — “Provided that the amount expended from this source on school prizes for any school in any calendar year shall not exceed £25, ox* a sum equal to 1/0 per unit of the roll number at Afarcli Ist of that year, whichever shall bo the smaller.” Free Places in Secondary schools. Clause 3 of the regulations is amended by deleting the words “not over sixteen” in the proviso thereto end substituting the words “over fifteen.”
