At this morning’s conference of flic Council of Women a remit was carried deploring the present examination system as applied to secondary schools, except: for-pupils intending to proceed to the University. hut supporting the suggested system of accrediting instead. Other motions carried were that a child under the age of sixteen he debarred from entering a hotel bar even if it is in its parents’ care and that children under the age of fifteen he debarred from selling sweets and papers in theatres; that a married mother should have equal rights with a father as the guardian of her child. The conference endorsed a remit from Gislmrne protesting against the publication of details of conversations hi divorce and illegal operation cases.

A remit was carried deploring the tendency to bring very young children before public as performers on the concert platform or professional stage. Tlie speaker said the doctors deplored the fact that mere infants performed before large audiences. She had known one child to be a nervous wreck for quite a time after such a performance.
