TRAIN DERAILED.
MISHAP IN MANAWATU GORGE
Palmerston N"., August 15.
The 7.10 a.m. mixed train from Palmerston N. to Napier was derailed in the Alanawatu Gorge this looming owing to the engine striking n big boulder. Four wagons and the engine leit the rails, the passenger cars remaining in the tunnel. The twelve passengers walked to the gorge station and were motored lo Woodville.
The damage is slight. The gorge road is also closed. The gorge railway was cleared before noon, and trains are again running. Mail trains are expected to maintain schedule time.
