WEDDING.
NEWTFI—SPRING
A pretty wedding took place on July 23rd in the Methodist Church. Foxron, when Alberta ALarguerite, daughter of Air and Airs C. A. Spring, of Afonina, was married to Thomas John, younger son of AH and Afrs Af. Newt It, of Pa Inters lon North (late nf Afonina). The officiating clergyman was the Rev. S. Poryman. Airs Pemnnn presided at the organ, 'i lie vvcddiier march was played as il,e bride entered the church and ihe hymn “The Voice That Breathed O’er Eden" was .sung. The church had been nicely decorated by friends- of rlu- bride. The bride, who was given away bv her father, wore a dress nf white satin with georgette panels, and au embroidered Veil with eotuiiet ~f pearls and orange blossom-, and carried a bouquet of white dowers, with streamers of pale pink. The bride’s sister. Enlha, was bridesmaid and wore a frock of white crepe de clienc with a shot blue hat and a bouMi'.ef of pale pink flowers with streamers of pale pink, heliotrope and blue. Two little flower girls were also in attendance, Joyce Shaw, wearing pink organdi. and Peggy Ailken. lemon organdie. Both wore tulle veils to tone with their frocks and carried baskets of flowers. Air Ken Eollei wa- best man.
The bridegroom's gift to the bride wa- a fur coat, to the bridesmaid, an ebony toilet set and io tile flower girls, strings of pearls. After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Town Hall supperruom, when the usual toasts were honoured. The happy couple left for their honeymoon that afternoon, the bride, wearing a three-piece costume of grey gabardine and floral morocain, and a grey and tangerine hat, and a fur coal. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy costume and black hat and carried a posy of violets. The bride’s mother wore a nigger brown braided coat frock, with a brown hat and carried a posy of yellow flowers and autumn leaves. The bouquets and posies were made and presented by Mrs Galland, of Newbury (Tate of Afoutoa).
The wedding presents included several cheques and also an oak and silver salad howl and teapot, and stand from the residents of Afoutoa and Alarotiri. Tn the evening a dance was held in the Afoutoa Hall when a very pleasant evening was spent. The young couple will reside at Kairanga.
