Signal reported that since the dredge Hennessy had been shift'd from the wharf to the opposite .-file of the river it had ceased to leak. This he considered was due to the fact that the dredge did not receive any buffeting at its new moorings such as it was subjected to at the wharf, and that in consequence, (lie seams imd closed. He said he would like to see the dredge set to work off the jetty at the beach, as a hank had formed there since the last flood. It was decided that it would he inadvisable to set the dredge in operation again until it had been recaulked. AD Signal reported that a man had commenced work on the ‘cradle’ to be made for the dredge for this purpose. It was decided to write Messrs Jiokell and Gilmour, engineers in charge of the building of the ‘cradle’ pointing out to them that the ‘cradle’ was required as soon as possible and asking what had been the cause of the delay in commencing this work. AFFORESTATION WORK AT THE BEACH. A letter was read from Mr E. R. B. Tfolben stating that the season was now well advanced, and asking what arrangements had been made in connection with the Board’s scheme of planting pinus insignis trees at the Beach.

In support of the letter. Mr Holla ti said that lie believed the Board would he' able to procure a quantity of yearling trees free of cost from the Forestry Department, as it had made similar grants to other local bodies. Mr Chrystall said he was in favou! of buying two year okl trees from a nursery. He considered yearling lives unsuitable for the class of planting the Board intended carrying out. .. It was decided that Messrs .T. A. Nash and Linklater, M.’sP., endeavour to obtain a free grant of trees from the Forestry Department. ELECTRICITY FOR BEACH. Mr E. R. B. Holben requested that the Board should sign up the application form for the supply of electric current to the pilot's residence at the Beach, as supplied by Mi Da wick, of the Beach Improvement Committee.
