CREW SAVED AFTER TRYING ORDEAL. Grey mouth, Last Night. The steamer Ngahere went a,shore when departing over the Grey bar at 2 p.m. to-day, with a full load of timber and coal for Wellington. The steamer Regulus preceded her out, and whistled to denote she was touching bottom, but the tide was rising, and it was believed (here would be more water when the Ngahere sailed. By the aid of rockets the lines were, got aboard from the shore, and the crew were all Jnnded before 5.30. The vessel settled in the sea, swinging as on a pivot amidships. She is considered to be practically a total loss. Nothing was saved by the crew. The s.s. Ngahere. 680 tons, arrived at Grey mouth at ten o’clock on Friday morning to load coal and timber for Wellington. She was owned by the Blackball Coal Co., Ltd. Captain M’Lean was in charge.
