FOOTBALLERS’ BALL.
SPECTACULAR EVENT. The footballers’ annual ball, held in the Town Hall last night proved a very spectacular affair. The body aiid, entrance of the hall was decorated with greenery. Streamers in the Union’s colours (red and yellow* formed a dome for-the body of the hall. The stage w r as also tastefully decorated with greenery, three crips, won by local teams last season; occupying a central position while in the hack ground were hung flags representing each senior team in the Union, the work of Mesdames F. Procter and Baker and Miss Moore. The floor was in excellent condition and the hall was crowded, the many different and pretty dresses of the ladies presenting a very animated scene. The music by Larkins’ orchestra was all that could be desired.
In welcoming the visitors, Mr M. E. Perreau apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mr J. Linklater, M.P.
The decorating in the supjperroom was a work of art, to Say nothing of the very fine catering. The tables were all decorated in the local colours, yellow and black, each, table representing a playing field, wit h goal posts in .the centre and a, hall at each end, while in the centre of the room, forming an archway, was a huge goal with football suspended. The catering and decorations were the work of Mrs F. Procter and a very energetic committee consisting of Mesdames or. Head, Heasman, Roore, Alexander. P. Robinson and Miss Moore. Mrs Procter desires to thank all those who contributed towards the catering nr assisted in any way this fund. Owing to generous response Mrs Procter was able to do practically all the catering without incurring any expense. Messrs Perreau and Stevenson acted as M.’sC.
