A motor accident which terminated fatally occurred on No. 1 Line at the bend in the road at Putiki yesterday morning (says the Wanganui “Herald”). A passenger for the service car to Marton run by Hodson’s Ltd., Mr Howard C. Wilson, of Marton, missed the main car. He was sent on by a special car to meet the service car at Kaitoke, which, according to the usual arrangement, had been stopped at Kaitoke, to wait the arrival of the special ear on receipt of a telephone message from Wanganui. The expected ear nol arriving within rea--i.nable time, the driver of the service ear decided to return towards Wanganui in the hope of meeting t lie special ear. When the bend was reached at Putiki it was seen that a serious accident had occurred. After the rain ot the last two or three days the road was in a greasy condition. From wheel marks on the read it would appear as if the •~p rial car which contained only the passenger, and driven bv C. Milos, residing at Heimore St., Waugamit East, had run on to the side of Inc road when negotiating the corner. The slope of the ground feii away from the road at this locality and it appeared as if the car had capsized. Both driver and •'passenger were discovered in an injured condition shortly after the accident, and medical aid was sent for from t>>wii. Mr Wilson was badly injured ami was removed lo the hospital, where unfortunately lie succumbed ;<• his injuries. The driver was picktd up in an unconscious condition Inn his injuries were not serious. I'lie car was considerably damaged. Mr Wilson arrived in Wanganui mi Saturday from Marton. He was a land agent in that place and resided at Hunia St. He was employed by Harris and Son, of Marton and had been in the town for about 18 months.
