THEFT OF A RING
SIX MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT
George Coleman, alias Waterman, was charged at the Palmerston N. Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, before Mr -T. L. Stout, S.M., that, on or about March 2S, at Foxton, lie did steal a diamond ring, valued at £l7, the property of Mary Griffen. Accused, who was unrepresented bv counsel, pleaded guilty. Detective-Sergeant Quirke. stated that accused stayed at the Manawatu Hotel, Foxton, on the night of March 22, and next day the ring was missed.
Mary Griffen, wife of the proprietor of the Manawatu Hotel, gave evidence on these lines.
Accused, wdio asked for a, light sentence, was convicted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment to be concurrent on prisoner’s other term of three months imposed the day previously.
