RACING AT AWAPUNI.
Tlve Manawatu Racing Club's Autumn meeting opened at Awapuni yesterday with a large attendance. The weather was oppressively hot and shortly before the last race a heavy hailstorm began to fall. The track was very firm and some excellent racing was witnessed during the day. Results: — Karere Hurdles Handicap:—Sling Camp 1, Stnrland 2, Santiago 3. Won by a neck, three lengths between second and third. Time 3.15. Te Matai Hack Handicap.—Clandlra 1, Stream 2. Anxious Moments 3. Won by half a length, a neck between second and third. Time 1.47. o-Woodhev Hack Handicap.—Beninure 1, All marimba 2, Entre Nous 3. WV>n by two lengths, a neck between second and third. Time 1.14 2/5. Sixteenth Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes: —Motley 1, Inferno 2, Quiescent 3. Won by a head, two lengths between second and third. Time 1.13. Prince of Wales’ Handicap. First Salute 1, Alfort 2, Para 3. Won by a neck, half a length between second and third. Time 1.52 3/5. Awapuni Gold Cup.—Ballymena 1, Pilliewinkie 2, Winning Hit 3. Won by two lengths, three lengths between second and third. Time 2.5 2/5. Linton Welter Handicap.—GlenrossT, The Curragh 2, Merry Singer 3. Won by a length each way. Time 1.28. Telegraph Handicap —King Merv 1, Last Crust 2. Civility 3. Won by two lengths, three lengths between second and third. Time 1.13.
