FOXTON 40 v. WANDERERS b
The first game of the season was piayed on Easton Park on Saturuay afternoon under a blazing sun, when Foxton met and substantially defeated Wanderers (Levin). There was a fair attendance. The ground was very hard and rough. Foxtou won the toss and elected to play with the sun behind them. The game opened with a show of enthusiasm, and willingness was the order of the game throughout. Five minutes after kick-oh Townsheud, for Foxton, scored a brilliant try from a passing rush instigated in Wanderers 25, scrum. Ho attempt was made to convert. From then on Foxton pressed and kept the visitors well within their own 26. Scores were registered by the following, for Foxton, during the first spell; Andrews 2, Townshend A. Fuller, and T. Fuller. Wanderers scored a penalty goal. Scores at half-time were Foxton 24, Wanderers 3. In the second spell Wanderers rallied, but Foxton was soon aggressive again and during this spell A. Fuller, Huh, Townsheud and X. Fuller scored. Wanderers scored one try and the game ended Foxton 40, Wanderers 6. The passing-rushes by the Foxtou backs were excellent and some brilliant play was witnessed. XowusLend, on the wing, played brilliantly. The three Fullers made the backs and were always to the fore.
A full attendance of all thirdgrade players is requested for tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 7.30 o'clock at Bryant’s rooms.
