MONSTER BAND CARNIVAL
FREE TRIP THROUGH NEW ZEALAND.
A meeting of the Carnival executive was held on Tuesday evening. Applications for flie position of organiser were received and Mr J. Golder was appointed to the position. It was pointed out that, as ail organiser Air Golder possessed initiative and ability and needed no introduction to the local public and to several bands of (lie Dominion, whose assistance in the disposal of tickets will he sought. Mr Goldor’s terms arc ten per cent, on the net proceeds, no percentage from donalions, and he has guaranteed a free railway trip throughout New Zealand to the person who disposes of the greatest unrulier of art union tickets in which nil queen candidates will benefit according to the number of their colour tickets sold.
A representative meeting to form Queen Committees is advertised for to-morrow evening in the Town Hall supper-room at 8 o'clock. The Mayor will preside. At the meeting the Band’s balance-sheet will be read.
A deputation from the Band waited on the Mayor of Shannon yesterday and wore invited to attend a meeting to be held in Shannon on Tuesday evening to discuss Anzac services and the carnival. It was announced that Shannon will put up a queen for the benefit Af the Band in return for assistance given by the Band in that district. Oroua Downs, Sandon and Rongot ea will lie similarly catered for. It is expected to put up three queen candidates in Foxton, viz., “Citizens’,” “Firebrigade’s,” and a “Kindred Sports” Queen. Shannon will put up a “Fibre Queen” and a “Fanners’,” Queen from Oroua Downs representing Sandon and Rongotea districts. A Bandsman representativo will be on each committee.
The matter of the Band Trustees will be discussed to-morrow night and it lias been suggested that two trustees be appointed from Foxton and one each from Shannon, Oroua Downs, Sandon and Rongotea, since* these centres are going to assist in the effort. The Band by their gratuitous assistance in these centres has become very popular in the districts mentioned.
