SHIPPING.
ARRIVAL OF SCOW KOHL . WITH CARGO OF BENZINE. The Tasman Bay Shipping Co.’s auxilary scow Kohi berthed at the wharf last night with a cargo of 3.300 eases of benzine for Messrs Goldingham and Beckett. In conversation with Captain Nalder our reporter was informed that the vessel draws sft. loaded. This, he stated, was his first visit to this port. He crossed the bar at 4.30 p.m. about an hour and a-half after full tide and was signalled aeross the bar by semaphore, with ample water at the entrance. He traversed the river channel without a pilot and except for a slight shallow at. Duncan’s Bend, tied up at the wharf at 0 p.m. He said he had no difficulty in making the port although very little' information is published about local conditions. From his observations and with the tide against him, he said he experienced no difficulty. He could not say whether the scow would make regular trips. The Kohi will leave for Wellington empty on this evening’s tide. The'Wellington agents for the Kohi are Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Co.
The s.s. Kennedy sails from Foxton for Lyttelton on Friday at 5 p.m. and leaves Lyttelton for Foxton on Monday at 5 p.m.
