ISSUE OF VALUELESS CHEQUES.
Wanganui, February 20. A young unui named Rowland Wentworth Baddeley was charged at the Magistrate's Court this morning with obtaining a pair of field glasses from Henry G. Drew by means of a valueless cheque; from Martin Vernon the sum of £2 10/-; from Herbert A. Burnett the sum of £5; and with having incurred a debt of £l2O to the Egmont Racing Club by means of valueless chequTiie evidence showed that BadUeley represented himself as a visitor to Hawera for the races and applied for and obtained a commission book in exchange for a cheque on an Auckland bank. Accused pleaded guilty to ail charges and was committed to the Supreme Court to-morrow for sentence.
