PETITIONS FOR HTS REPRIEVE.
Auckland, Last Night.
Petitions for the reprieve of Higgins of his sentence to death for the Waikino murders were forwarded to-day by his counsel to fhe Gov-ernor-General and His Exfclleney’s constitutional advisors. The ground on which the reprieve is sought is that at the time of the crime Higgins was insane and attenton is directed to the fact that at the trial seven doctors described him as insane.
