CHILDREN'S PLAYING AREA.

IN' F.ASTON PARK

PUBLIC MEETING CONVENED

The Foxton Beautifying Society has convened a public meeting to be held in the Town Hall supper-room next Thursday evening, at 7.30 o’clock, to discuss a proposal to convert portion of Easton Park into :1 children's playing- area, and to c, ill ip same with swings, slides, merry-go-rounds and other appliances for the safe amusement of the children of the town. At last meeting of the Beautifying Society an illustrated booklet showing the various lay-outs adopted in other centres was discussed. Tt was stated that a similar equipment for T'oxton would cost about £SOO. The President PUr Pert-can). suggested that the Society should contribute £SO from its funds towards the cost and that the balance be raised by a big public effort on similar lines to that adopted so successfully, ut Levin and Shannon. Tt was point ed out that the scheme would appeal to citizens, and would give effeet to one of the chief objects of the donor in presenting the park to the citizens. Tt is hoped, therefore, that everyone interested in the child welfare of the town will be present at the meeting, when a committee will be set up to carry the effort, to a successful issue.
