HIGH COMMISSIONER’S

REPORT.

The High Commissioner’s cablegram, dated 9th instant, reads: — Hemp, Manila market dull, only moderate business has been done; J grade, February-April shipments, sold at £35 5s per ton, and buyers offered at £35 at the end of the week. New Zealand market quiet, highpoints February-April shipment,£3s; faff-, £32 10s values. Output of Manila hemp for January, 1924,. 132,000 bales, against 100,000 for same period last year. Stocks in Manila 148,000, against 135,000. Stocks in Great Britain approximately 20,000 bales, against 7,000 last year.
