SAVED FROM DROWNING
MOTHER AND CHILD RESCUED. Feilding, January 23. Gallant rescues were effected yesterday in the Hangitikei river at Kakariki. Mrs Mnnngli and tier children were at the river, and one child who was bathing got: into difficulties. The mother rushed to the resene, and was washed down by the current. Miss Florence Ward, of Marlon, plunged in and saved the child: and Ron Fade, of Fcilding, taking his coal off, dived in oil. the 30 fool hank, and, being a strong swimmer, brought the mother ashore. He applied his life-saving knowledge and brought her round in 15 minutes. Fade is a member of a swimming family, and his brother is champion of the local club.
