PLUNKET SOCIETY
The monthly meeting was held in the Plunket room yesterday afternoon. Present: Mesdnmes AustinJohnsfon (President), Pearson, Trueman, Christie, Chrystall, CowIcy, Mall on, McDonald a lid MeMurrav (lion, secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdnmes F. Robinson, AVyllie and A. Ross. Mrs Austin-Johnston was welcomed hack after an absence of five months on a trip to Japan and China. Owing to Nurse Ivearins being on holiday, the monthly report was not available.
The Secretary reported that Mesdnmes F. Robinson, Christie, A. Ross and MeMurray had waited on (he Borough Council rc the matter of building a Plunket room, and had been favourably received. No reply had yet tieen received to the request made. The Mayor (Air J. Chrystall) had sfatpd at a pubic meeting that lie regretted that Ibis request could not legally he granted. Tl was decided that the secretary write the Council, offering lo pay rent for a suitable room in the proposed new building. An account for 8s was passed for payment. The visiting committee for the coming month is Mesdames AustinJohnston and Trueman. Flower steward: Mrs Austin-Johnston. The amount in the collection box was 7s 9d.
