Members are reminded that the carnival is now drawing near, entries closing next Wednesday, the bill December. Gel your entry in now. Every member should enter for at least one race.

The low spring board has been shifted round and now points out into the stream instead of the basin. This is a great improvement on the old position. A committee meeting is called for Monday evening next at 8 p.m. in the Herald Office. Business: Important.

Yesterday afternoon the swimmers of the local State school gathered at the river to test their prowess at swimming long distances, under the supervision of Mr Davidson. Held under the auspices of the N.Z. Swimming Association, such trials provide a worthy incentive for youths to become interested in a clean and manly sport which possesses recreative as well as considerable physical benefits. The results of the trials are as follows: — Learner’s Certificate (50 yards): Warren Mudford, George Rankin; 110 yards: Joseph Smith. Swimmer’s Certificate (440 yds.): Ernest Ball, Tap Taylor. Proficiency Certificate: (11 milts) :—John Preston, Roy Healey, Wilbur Wright, Two miles : Ngaio Easton, William Hirini, Gerald Hiring Nelson Ball, James Potaka.
