COUNCILLOR LOSES HIS SEAT.

Hastings, November 9. Councillor L. W. Fowler, who was convicted last Wednesday of obstructing a police constable in the discharge of bis duty, and who was fined'£s, attended last night’s meeting of the Borough Council, but the Mayor called on him to retire as having been convicted of an offence punishable by fine or imprisonment, his seat had become vacant automatically. Cr. Fowler retired and an extraordinary election will be held in due course.
