GAS WORKS.

AUGUST WORKING. During the month of August tlig si mount of gas manufactured was .'546,000ft., which with the amount of gas in the August Ist., 17,600 ft., made a total of 563,600 ft. During the month 462,300 ft. was ■ used by consumers, 24,000 ft. in the street lamps, 27,000 ft. at the works and there was- 18,000 ft. in the holder on September Ist,, making a total of 531,300 ft, and leaving 32;300 ft. representing 5.5 per cent, unaccounted for. Fifty-two tons of coaj were carbonised during the month, yielding 12,130 ft, to the ton. The earnings for the month totalled £378 9/9, and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £129 6/2, heat and power £129 8/2, coke sales £99 3/6, tar sales, £7 15/-,''fit-tings £lO 4/9, services £1 3/8, labour services 10/-, do., fittings 7/6, miscellaneous 11/-, a total of £378 9/9, The expenditure for the month totalled £277 0/8, and was made up as follows: —Coal £ll6 9/2, salaries and wages £SO 16/2, services £l2 3/6, fittings £8 5/6, printing and advertising £2 5/- engine oil £l9 4/10, repairs weighbridge £3 2/11, tools £1 19/3, working exs. 5/11, sundries £2 16/9, interest and sinking fund £59 11/8, a total of £277 0/8.
