ACCIDENTAL DROWNING.

Thames, Last Night. An inquest was held before the Coroner this afternoon on the body of Vernon S. Dent, who was drowned off a launch while journeying between Thames and Kerepeeha. Nothing was elucidated as to how deceased fell overboard, though an experienced launchman stated Jus opinion was that Dent while returning from the bow of the boat-to the cockpit; missed his footing, striking his head on the belting of the vessel, thereby being stunned. This would account for the fact that deceased had made no outcry. He had been a powerful swimmer. The Coroner returned a verdict of accidentally drowned.
