ENTERTAINMENTS.

ROYAL PICTURES. “EAST IS .WEST” Connie Talraadge with a fresh piquancy in “East is West,” appears at the Royal Theatre to-night. As little Ming Toy she is seen, sometimes winking, wooing, smiling, sobbing—sometimes you’ll cry over her, sometimes laugh, bnt if you ever loved Constance Talmadge you will rave about her in this production. A picture that will grip you and hold your interest right until the last scene. Full of mystery, as only pictures of the East can he. See Connie Talmadge at her best. Before screening n Prologue will be given by ten young ladies in character, entitled “Prom Here to Shanghai.” Comedy “Counter Plot.” Extra “The Perils of the Yukon.” On Monday “Women who Wait,” is to he sereened. This picture is the most capably handled picture hv a first class cast, whilst the work of the producer is also excellent. It is a picture of real life depicting Cape Cod people. Extra: “The Timber Queen.” “SHIRLEY OF THE CIRCUS.” When patrons leave the Town Hall to-night after seeing Shirley Mason in “Shirley of the Circus,” they -will almost expect to step ont, on to the grass and have to watch their steps to dodge the tent pegs, so real is the circus atmosphere af the picture. All the fun of a big circus performance is contained in “Shirley of the Circus,” with a few additional 1 brills thrown in for good measure. The dainty Miss Mason as ;1 dazzling rider, proves that she n-.t only is a capable actress hut an exceptional equestrienne as well. The picture is most spectacular, whilst the romantic love theme is entirely novel and delightfully real. The action takes place in France and England. Chief support will be a special comedy featuring.the favourite contortionist comedian Cly de Cook, as ‘‘The Guide.” His adV i ntnres whilst climbing the Alps are a scream. Prices will remain as usual to-night, viz. fid and 1/6, children fid and fid.
