FOXTON VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.

QUARTERLY REPORT,

At Thursday’s quarterly meeting of the Foxton Fire Board, Superintendent Pearson submitted the Brigade report, which stated, inter alia, that the superintendent took charge of the brigade upon the retirement of Superintendent McDerinid. Parades have boon held each alternate Tuesday and the attendanees have been good, the men evincing a keen interest in the work. The brigade is at present at full -trength, viz. sixteen members and the fire lighting appliances are fairly complete and the brigade is now ready for any emergency. The flooring at the station has been laid and painting of »auie will shortly be completed. The most important requirement is an addition to the living quarters. The necessity of provision for four men living on the station was stressed and it was suggested that the Board room he converted into a bedroom. Brief reference was made to the team which attended the united brigades conference at Dunedin and appreciation was expressed of the Board’s financial assistance in this connection. Certain requirements were mentioned. A gong was required for the engine as a warning signal. Reference to the procuring of a billiard table for the social ball was made and in this connection it was stated that the brigade bad in hand £SO to £OO towards purchase. The report was adopted and it was decided to convert the office into a sleeping apartment. A gong was authorised to he procured for the engine and the Wellington members were authorised to inspect a billiard table under offer and to report on same. Mr Pearson was re-appointed superintendent and Mr TI. Hamer deputy superintendent. Both appointments being for a period of throe moat hs. The Board'decided to procure two more uniforms to obviate alterations to present suits.
