FOXTON CARD CLUB.
A very enjoyable evening was spent on Thursday evening last in Walls’ dining rooms, the occasion being a team of thirty card players visiting Foxton from Sandon. to ploy n friendly game of crihbago with the local club. Each of (lie HD ecu tables played nine gaums, ; 111 (1 offer some very interesting contests, Sandon won, the scores being Sandon 75 and Foxton -sl>. After the cards, a very tasty supper was enjoyed and during the evening Messrs Ellers and McGregor added to flic enjoyment with several songs. The winners of most games during the night were Mr Scotty Hammond and Mr W. Chapman, both of Sandon, who captured eight out of the nine games played at their tables. Owing 1o illness. Air Stan A’Court, Sandon’s leading light, was not able to attend, and bis smiling face was greatly missed. After a few remarks in praise of the visiting team, the evening was brought to a close with three hearty cheers for Sandon.
