PRESBYTERIAN SALE OF WORK.

The Sale of Work, organised by the Indies of the local Presbyterian Church, was held in the Masonic Hall yesterday afternoon. The Rev. F. McDonald, in .formally opening the sale, expressed surprise at the quantity, variety and quality of goods displayed. lie said no noise was heard in the building of King Solomon’s temple and for their after noon’s effort the tallies had worked silently and he hoped the results would (xeccd expectations. There wn> a good attendance, representative of all denominations, and good business was done in the various stalls, and except for a. number of articles in the sewing stall, a clearance was effected by 5 pan. The following were the stalls and stall holders: —Cake stall: Mrs Alex Ross and Misses J. Ross and Speirs; Sweets: Miss B. Spoil’s; Sewing: Mesdnmes Downes, H. and J. Tfnrnhlow, Alex Spcirs; Produce and Flower: Mesdnmes Sntherly, Perrean, Slade, and Cunningham; refreshments: Mesdnmes J. Ross, Kennedy, Simpson and Pnrkes; door steward: Miss Littlejohn. The cake stall put up a record by realising £2O odd. Tn this connection it may he mentioned that one lady alone used a 2511). bag of flower in making up cakes and cookies. The total amount realised from the effort was £OO odd.
