SCHOOL COMMITTEE .
The monthly meeting of the local Slate school committee was held last night. Present : —Messrs Hornblow, (chairman), Rangiheuea (secretary), Geo. Coley, C. Pearson, F. Rimmer, and the headmaster (Mr Bank's). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Perreau and Cowley. Formal correspondence was received from Ihe Eduealion Board re free exercise hooks.
The Chairman reported that the Board had given the Commit lee Ihe limber and iron in the old out-offices for use in fencing the girls’ playground. —Messrs Pearson and Coley were appointed a sub-committee to confer with tlie headmaster in regard lo fence-line of girls’ playground and demolition of old buildings and report to next meeting. The question of persons trespassing on the school grounds and tennis court was mentioned and it was decided to take steps to prohibit the practice and if necessary to prosecute.
An application for the use of the school tennis courts was not entertained.
The headmaster reported that the roll number was 430 and the attendance had fallen off on account of the influenza epidemic. The school had been visited last week by Inspectors Stncky and Crawford and the at tendance officer. Several matters needing attention were referred to.
Accounts were passed for payment and the secretary and Mr Stevenson appointed visitors for the month.
