SCHOOL WATER SUPPLY.
The local school committee got a surprise at last night’s meeting when informed that the water meter had registered over seventy thousand gallons of water since the connections with the sewerage had boon installed and that the out offices had only been in use for a week. It was pointed out that (he extraordinary supply had been used for testing and purposes other than through the cisterns. The chairman said if the Committee were to he charged at 1/- per KKH) gallons the cost per annum, unless the supply was regulated, would exceed the whole of the capitation grant.
The headmaster said he was taking steps to prevent waste by the children.
Are C’oley said the children looked upon the conveniences as a new toy and delighted to release the water. The headmaster said the suppH would lie cut off at certain periods end at night. ft was decided to make enquiries mi other centres re water charges to - eh ools and hold the matter over until next meeting.
