LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
SUPPORT FROM PUBLIC MEET- ' ING. I Auckland, 12th Septemb. ! A public meeting in the Town Hall carried a resolution recording its confidence in the League of Nations of which New Zealand is now a member, and urges the New Zealand representatives to support the League in the exercising of the powers given it under eonvenant to secure and maintain the peace of the world through justice. This resolution is to be sent to the Prime Minister (Mr W. F. Massey), Sir James Allen, and Lord Robert Cecil. " It was also resolved “That steps be taken (o strengthen in every possible way the existing League of Nations Union in Auckland, and that the public be urged to join the union and assist in its efforts to promote the world’s peace.” The Mayor (Mr .T. H. Gnnson) presided and the speakers included Sir Joseph Ward, the Hon. George Fowlds, the Rev. Mr Monekton, Messrs G. M. Gould (Mayor of Takapuna), T. Bloodworth and L. Grimwade.
