FOOTBALL.
The second test match between New South Wales and New Zealand was played at Christchurch on Saturday, in the presence of 14,000 spectators. The weather conditions were ideal. The game resulted in another win for the New Zealanders with 34 points to 6. At Auckland on Saturday, Auckland defeated Otago by 16 points to 5.
On Saturday, at Dunedin, Otago defeated the Wairarapa touring team by 34 points to 11. The touring Manawatu team played its first match at Invercargill on Saturday, and was defeated by Southland by 16 points to 11. On Saturday, Koputaroa (Northern) met Otaki ( Southern) for the Junior championship of the Union. Koputaroa filed out on to the field considerably heavier than their opponents, and made the most of theii weight in the scrums and heavy forward rushes which followed. The game resulted in a draw —11 all.
