W.C.T.U.
The monthly meeting of the W.C. T.U. was held in the Prebyterinn Sunday Schoolroom on Thursday last. Mrs Banks (president) presided over a fair attendance. Mention was made of the late president Harding becoming a total abstainer sometime prior to his death. Papers on liquor being introduced into the King Country were read and discussed. It was decided to make next meeting an open day for mothers and children. Mrs Banks was elected delegate to represent, the local Union at the conference to be held in Levin on the 28th and 291 h of this month. Mrs Thomson (wife of the Chinese Missionary) was then introduced and gave an interesting address on their work in China which was listened to most attentively. A hearty vote of thanks to the speaker brought the meeting to a close.
