HEALTH OFFICER’S QUARTERLY REPORT. At last night’s Borough Conn meeting the public Health Officer reported, as follows on the Foxtoa district for the quarter ending oOtil June, 1023.—“Foxton has been remarkably free from notifiable infectious diseases during the quarter ending 30th June, no cases having been notified. Plumbing and drainage inspections have occupied mos' my 1 ime in your Borougu. Usual weekly visits were made, with extra visits for the attention of urgent matters. The’progress has been much bettor this quarter and the plumbing work lias been kept up Io date with the drainage work. I would suggest that a form Re printed for certificates of completion of plumbing and drainage work. These could then be demanded by property owners before making the final payment. “Three drainlayers’ examinations were held, resulting in two new licenses being issued. Among the numerous inspections made of private and food premises, the four local hotels were inspected prior to Hie Licensing Committee meeting. Improvements were recommended and eventually carried out. Only one hotel has yet to he connected to the sewerage system, and notice has been served for the completion of this work before the next Licensing Committee meeting.
“The want of a rubbish collection system is very noticeable. lam pleased to hear that your Council has this matter in hand. It is to he hoped that a thorough system is adopted, including a regular free service and also the insistence upon a regulation rubbish receptacle.” The report was adopted.
