PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The quarterly and annual meeting of the Management Committee of the Foxton charge of the Presbyterian Church was held at Foxton yesterday. Representatives were present from Glen Oroya, Orona Downs, Rongotea and Foxton. The Rev. F. McDonald (Moderator) presided. The balance-sheet disclosed ■ a debit on the year’s working, occasioned by extraordinary expenditure on repairs to the manse and certain indebtedness carried over from the previous year. A loan on mortgage sanctioned by Presbytery had been arranged for a period of three years. The voluntary offerings in the various churches throughout the charge compared more than favourably with previous years' while the attendances had shown au increase. It was decided to recommend that special efforts be made throughout the charge to liquidate the liability. Messrs Hornblow and Ross were appointed a deputation to wait on Presbytery at Wanganui with - a view to obtaining the reinstatement of a grant from the church extension fund. Favourable reports were received from the delegates in reference to pastoral visitations. The balance-sheet, as read, was adopted. A motion of sympathy was passed to the widow and family of the late Rev. Alex Doull. At the conclusion of the meeting, the ladies of the Foxton congregation entertained the delegates at luncheon and were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
