DEATH FROM BURNS.

MAORI GIRL’S MISADVENTURE

A Maori girl named Fanny Parekahakaha Keriama, 14 years of age, died at Moutoa yesterday morning. About two months ago deceased went to an outhouse for some kerosene during the evening. She spilt some of the kerosene on her clothes which became ignited and she was severely burned about the chest and arms. Her injuries were attended to and she appeared to be progressing favourably. On Sunday evening, however, she took a bad turn and passed away yesterday morning. An inquest was held at Shannon at 10 o’clock this morning before Mr Alf. Fraser, coroner. A verdict was returned “that the deceased died at the Poutu pah (Moutoa) on July 23rd as the result of burns accidentally received on May 20th, 1923.”
