SLIPS ON MAIN TRUNK LINE.
SOUTH-BOUND ENGINE DERAILED. Auckland, Last Night. Two heavy landslides, one beIween Kakalii and Owlmngo, south of Tnumaruuui, und Ihe other beiweon Mafarou and Tailpipe, have blocked the Alain Trunk line. The Kakalii block occurred a I about 5 o’clock this evening and that at Mataroa an hour la lev. The southbound mixed train van into the Kalc;ihi slip and the engine was derailed, but nobody was burl. The extent of the damage is unknown hero, but it is expected to take 12 to 14 hours In clear the slips. In (he meantime, Iraffic is suspended. The South-bound express is expected to reach Wellington at about mid-night to-morrow, and the north-bound train to reach here about 5 to-mor-row evening. The northward train is held at Tallinpo and the southhound at Tnumanumi for the night. Passengers’ luggage and mails will probably have io lie transferred at one or both slips.
