TRAGIC FATALITY.
BOY SHOOTS HIS BROTHER. “DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS LOADED.” Eltham, July 2. A sensational shooting accident which occurred at Mangamingi on Saturday night resulted in the instantaneous death of Patrick Leo McCool, aged 15 years. It appears that deceased and his elder brother,- James McCool, aged 18 years, were undressing for bed when James picked up a doublebarrelled shotgun. He presented it at his brother and fired, the shot entering the right side and killing him instantly.
It is stated that the gun was used on the previous Sunday and that James believed it was unloaded at the time of the accident, but it was usbsequently found that it had been loaded in both barrels, one charge being fired. The police state that the shooting was purely accidental.
