GORED BY A BULL.

OLD MAN SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES. Dargaville, July 2. A mail named Mathias Jensen, aged 85 years, a resident of Masterton, who was on a visit to his son, • a farmer at Pukehtlia, was fatally gored by a bul] on Sunday. The old gentleman was out on the farm, when the bull, which is usually a quiet animal, attacked him. It gored him badly in the neck, almost severing the jugular vein. The son came to his father’s assistance, drove the bull off, and hurried the victim in a car to Dargaville for medical assistance, but the man died just before reaching the doctor’s residence. It is a strange coincidence that the son had sold his farm and he and his father were leaving for Masterton to-day.
