PRISONERS SENTENCED.

Wellington, June 18. In the Supreme Court to-day, Ernest William MeCardcll, an officer of the Repatriation Department, was charged with theft of moneys of the Department and nineteen charges of forgery. Mi’ Justice Chapman described the offences as a systematic, course of fraud and sentenced prisoner to 18 months hard labour. Henry George Smith, a young lad, who Avas described as a dangerous criminal, was ordered three years’ detention on charges of breaking, entering and theft. -Tack Johnston, 22, for breaking, entering and theft at New Plymouth yof three vein’s hard labour.
