GIRL CHARGED WITH ARSON.
PLEADS GUILTY
Dunedin. Last- Night
Ret a Margaret Smith, aged 19 years, was charged to-day at the Police Court with arson. Accused was employed by an invalid woman and according to the evidence, left a lighted candle on the middle of the hearthrug. The fire was extinguished and the invalid woman and her children rescued with some difficulty. Accused and her mistress were on good terms. In answer to the magistrate, the police, said the girl had been under medical examination and that there was a report from a medical man, Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
