STOLEN GOODS.
FATHER AND SON CHARGED.
Te Awamutu, Last Night. Constable Do.yle and Rushton, of the Te Awamutu Police, yesterday arrested Ernest Edward Bacon and his son, George, well-known __ residents, on the charges of stealing motor tyres, valued at £ls lfis from Holmes’ Bros, garage on the night of February 21. Both accused were brought before the Justices at the Court to-day, when the police asked for a remand until April 19. The police opposed bail, stating that several other charges respecting missing goods, would probably lie preferred. Bacon senr. said - he intended to plead guilty and asked for bail, adding that lie would assist the police in their investigations but the Bench decided to refuse bail. The accused are mail contractors with severe 1 cars. On Monday night tlic police recognised a certain brand of tyre on Bacon’s car. Next day they arrested both men and a. seracii of their home disclosed a iarge quantity of missing goods including bedding, household goods, motor and electrical equipment, and garden hose. The capture is considered the most important since the McMahon case a year ago.
