METHODIST CHURCH.
EASTER SERVICES AND SACRED RECITAL.
At. the evening service on Easter Sunday evening, the seating accommodation had to be considerably increased owing to the large attendance. Appropriate Easter hymns were sung and the address was also suited to the oecassion. During the service Miss Myra Sawyer sang with marked effect “I know that My Redeemer Liveth” (from Messiah).
At the close of the service a sacred recital was given by Miss Sawyer and Messrs William Boardnian, and J. Sawyer. A large number of Foxton people took the opportunity offered of being present at this af-ter-church sacred recital —the building being taxed to its utmost seating capacity. The keen attention with which the large audience followed each item indicated the strong appreciation felt by all present. Miss Sawyer’s voice shows even marked advancement since her last visit—a new richness and range —whilst her expression was all that could be desired. Mr Boardman also was heard to great advantage, whilst Mr Sawyer was excellent on bis accompaniments proving himself a thorough master of his art. , The following is a.list of items rendered: — Air, “Remember N<sV Thy Creator,” (Sofliff) Miss Myra Sawyer; song, “The First Palm Sunday,” (Enuse) Mr William Boardman; duet, “By Thee With Bliss” (from “The Creation”), Miss Sawyer and Mr Boardman; Air, “Wise Men, Flatt’ring” (from “Judas Mnccabeaus”), Miss Sawyer; recite “I* Feel the Deity Within,” Air “Arm, Arm Ye Brave,” (from “Judas Maccabeaus”) Mr Boardman; Trio “On Thee Each Sunny Soul Awaits,” (from “The Creation”), Miss Sawyer, Messrs Boardman and Sawyer. Air “Rolling in Foaming Billows” (from “The Creation”) Air Boardman; duet “Of Stars the Fairest" (from “The Creation”), Miss Sawyer and Mr Boardman; Air “Pro Peeealis” (from Rossino's “Stalin!
