PRESENTATION.
The members of the Railway Service and local carriers assembled on Saturday evening to make a presentation to Mr A. Crowe, who has resigned the position of guard to follow farming in this district. Mr J. W. Fergie, stntioninaster, j.resided, and stated the regret, of all present at Mr Crowe leavng the serveo and expressed every good wish in his new sphere. Mr Crowe had been very popular with the general public and staff, and on behalf of those assembled the chairman presented him with a case of pipes. Messrs Aldridge, Crosswell, Yardlev. AEcEwen and Dunn endorsed the remarks of the chairman and referred to the many excellent qualities of the guest of the evening. Mr Crowe, who was received with applause, stated his regret at leaving the service, but explained bo had decided to go farming and referred to many pleasant days spent in the Railway Department. The gathering concluded with cheers for Mr Crowe, and all expressed their hope for his future success.
