At last night’s Council meeting Mr Climie, engineer, reported That the work in hand in the borough was progressing very favourably. He recommended that the septic tank outlet be proceeded with at once. The Mayor pointed out that the financial position was not too good. As it was the septic tank, a job costing £2,(300, was being hung up for the want of £27. He would be willing to make up this sum himself until the loan moneys arrived. This amount would be used in the construction of the outfall from the septic tank and the latter would then be completed. Cr. Bryant said that the time \nts opportune for doing this work as the river at present is very lotv. it was decided that the septic tank outfall be commenced immediately on a basis of 2/3 an hour Wiigcs, Messrs Net die and Krebbs lu be paid £1 per day total wages during the construction of the works, also that necessary 2-inch galvanised piping be ordered to complete main laying in Reeve (Street.
