PUBLIC READING ROOM.
Since the destruction of the Council Chambers, public .library and reading room, a room at the Town Hall has been used for library, purposes. No provision has been made in the proposed municipal buildings for public readingloom and library, although the insurance money held and proposed t„ he used in the construction of the chambers, represented a proportionate cover for public readingroom and library. The Municipal; Association’s solicitor, however, gnvo liis opinion that the insurance money could he used for the erection of the Municipal chambers to the exclusion of public readingroom and library. At last night’s Borough Council meeting it was decided that a report he furnished to the next meeting of the Council by the Library Commit lee as to the advisability of fitting tip the room at the righthand side of the entrance of the Town Hall as a reading room.
