MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.

The regular meeting of the Manawatu County Council was held at Sanson on Tuesday, and there were present: Sir J. G. Wilson (in the chair), Crs. J. Boyce, H. Fagan, J. F. McKelvie, W. S. Penny, and H. H. Hunt, CORRESPONDENCE. From the Lands and Survey Department, notifying that it had been recommended to gazette sections 87 and 88 to Tangimoana reserves and vest them in the Council. —Received. From the State Advances Office, notifying that the special rate for the Council’s loan of £6,300 had been gazetted. —Received. • From/he Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund requesting a donation. —It was decided to reply that the Council’s contributions to the Hospital Board were too heavy to permit of it incurring expenditure of this nature. From the Rongoten Town Board asking for use of the Council’s road grader, free of charge, for a few days. —Decided that the state of (he Council’s funds did not permit consent to be given. Land-Transfers: —J. D. Cooksley to Foster and Dunsdale, Lot 84, section 384, Carnarvon; S. C. Gifkins to W. J. Leet, sections 306 and 307, Sanson; G. E. Snisted to D. G. Forlong, sections 149, Carnarvon and 47 Block 3, Kairanga; L. A. Watkins to'G. Simonsen, section 147, Rongotea: On the motion of the chairman, it was decided that provided the Tangimoana Improvement Society submitted plans to the Council for conveniences at. the beach, the Council would subsidise their expenditure £1 for £l, up to £4O.

TRAMWAY MANAGER’S REPORT.

The accounts sfyowed a credit balance of £l6 1/6 for the month’s working. The following were the chief items of traffic: Minerals 157 fons, merchandise 1214 tons, cheese and butter 131 tons, stock 48 trucks and timber 12,500 sup. feet. Fares .amounted to £1 7/1. .. Rolling stock.—The repairs to firebox of locomotive "Manawatu” had not yet been completed, but it had been promised at an early date. The metal wagons were being given a thorough overhaul. It had been necessary to obtain two sets of new brasses as the old ones are worn out. The curve at Himatangi required regauging and the line overhauling. —Adopted. . TREASURER’S REPORT. County Fund Account, dr. £5,392 15/6; Loan Account, cr. £8822 6/7, net credit balance, £3429 11/1. Amounts available for expenditure: Waitohi, £278 2/-; Rongotea, .€lO9 16/4. Amounts over-expended: Sandon, £3 5/1; Mt. Stewart, £3lB 18/3; Carnarvon, £lO3 12/6; Kawa Eawa £373; Awahou, £67 13/3.
