SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting 0 f the school eonunitte was field last night. Present: Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Roore (secretary), G eo . Coley, Cowley, Perreau, Pearson~Steyenson and the head teacher Banks). An apology for absence' " was received from Mr John Ross. The statement in connection with tlie school picnic was read and adopted and accounts in connection with same passed for payment. The Board wrote notifying that the Department had approved the grant for outbuildings.—The chairman said the Board’s architect had visited Foxton and the construction of outhouses would be gone on with at an early date and the school premises connected with the water and drainage scheme. The plans had been approved by the Department. Further correspondence was read fom the Board re appointment of Mr Davidson as first assistant. and enclosing qualifications and testimonials; also advising that subsidy of £4 3s had been granted in connection with the gifts of first aid cabinet and asking for vouchers covering expenditure of subsidy. The headmaster reported that the roll number for February was 417 and the average attendance 398.2. The school is undergoing several staff changes to comply with the grading. The school shop day resulted in a sum of £24 16s being raised. Several repairs were mentioned. —The report was received and it was decided to send a letter of thanks to the staff on their efforts to assist the committee’s finances. The resignation of Miss I. Woodruffe was received to take effect from March 31st. The chairman referred to the loss tlie school would sustain through the resignation of Miss AYoodruffe and the transfer of Mr McDonnell, and it was decided to forward letters appreciative of their services^ Messrs Pearson and Ross were appointed visitors for the month.
